Being a theratre practitioner and lover of tv drama I write scripts for stage and television. I have ventured out into prose but am not that confident in that area…yet. I occasionally write some random poetry and I am a great lover of comedy so I write material for my stand-up and comic scripts and characters.
I was in the top 10% of writers taken forward onto the Soho Theatres Young Writers 10 week course. I have also recently taken part in a seminar as part of the BBC Writersroom programme where I met will Paul Aston and had to design a concept for a new tv programme in a couple of hours.
My advice for other writers is…Just write! Writing is an art like any other…you must practice your skill every day if you want to improve.
My favourite authors are: Seamus Heany, Alan Ball (Six Feet Under and True Blood), Victoria Pile (Smack the Pony, Green Wing and Campus) and Sarah Kane (I am so inspired by what she tried to do by bringing theatre back to it roots of educating audiences to the injustice which was pretty much occurring on our doorstep).
