Hi, my name is Symon Adamson and I am brand new to writing. I have recently finished my very first short story and feel that I have already achieved something by just doing that – even if it is only in my head.
I have always read books but wouldn’t describe myself as an avid reader in the last few years, more like always having one on the go I suppose. I remember getting hooked on true crime books in my early teens. Mum and Dad must have thought I was weird after suddenly finding tons of serial killer books all over my room but at least I kept them in a nice orderly pile with no mess! The bug for crime stories has never really loosened its grip.
For years I had always said I would have a go at writing a book one day and the inspiration for actually doing it came from the story of the late author, Robert Ludlum. He had worked in theatre for many years and when he turned 40 he decided to have a go at writing stories. Many millions of book sales since and the creation of characters like Jason Bourne told him he did the right thing I guess.
I turned 40 last year and that was it, here I am. I have no expectations from doing it, but absolutely loved the process of creating my own story which I hope to continue.
I like the idea of taking normal people with everyday problems into situations that are out of the ordinary. How would they react? What would they do? Human behaviour and why we do things has always been a deep fascination for me.
